Job description: Rotating Veterinary Surgeon- no weekends

Location: Village Vets – Multiple Locations Dublin North

Reports to: Lead Vet in a location  

Salary: Up to €65,000 -€70,000 DOE 

 

Job purpose

Responsibilities: 

  • Diagnose, treat and care for all patients to the standard upheld by Village Vets
  • Investigate and treat cases within the practice as completely as possible within the practice before referring to the needs of the patient
  • Perform a range of surgical procedures, including routine spays/neuters, among others with confidence and precision
  • Manage preoperative and post operative patient care independently, ensuring optimal pain management and recovery outcomes
  • Handle emergency surgical cases efficiently, making critical decisions under pressure while maintaining high standards of patient safety and welfare
  • Assume full responsibility to patients, ensuring that care is appropriate and of the highest standard
  • Keep medical records up to date and ensure billing is accurate
  • Prescribe and dispense medications correctly and safely, and help maintain adequate stock levels
  • Communicate effectively with clients, giving estimates and relevant information on diagnostics and treatment plans to allow informed decision-making
  • Promote the Pet Health Plans and Pet Insurance to all clients to facilitate the highest level of veterinary care
  • Ensure that all bills are priced correctly
  • Maintain membership of the VCI and be familiar with the legislation affecting the practice of veterinary medicine in Ireland.
  • Adhere to the guidelines of practice as stated in the VCI Guide to Professional Conduct and remain up to date with CPD requirements.
  • Always behave in a manner which serves to instill confidence in our profession in the minds of the team, individual clients and the wider general public.
  • Carry out any ad hoc veterinary or administrative duties that may arise through the normal course of the day within the clinic or as advised
  • Complete all tasks, duties and procedures efficiently and accurately.
  • Be responsible for creating and maintaining outstanding client experience throughout the whole team.

While at work all staff are required to take care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts and omissions & co-operate with Village Vets policies and procedures.  

 

Knowledge & Skills

Professional/Technical Qualification 
  • Current registration with VCI 
  • MVB or Equivalent 
  • Full Driving Licence 
 Further qualification specific to Veterinary training 
Experience & Job Knowledge 
  • Previous 3+ years’ experience in a small animal veterinary practice including surgery 
  • Interest in working in progressive practice as part of team 
 Dentistry Competent and Experienced 
Skills & Competencies 
  • Ability to investigate and treat clinical cases appropriately. 
  • Surgical skills appropriate to level of experience. Sole charge competency 
  • Excellent communication skills (written & oral). 
  • Ability to work well in fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent time management.
