Top tips for bringing your cat to our Cat Hotel | Village Vets

We've compiled a list of top tips to know before bringing your cat into the Cat Hotel to make it as comfortable and stress free as possible for both you and your cat.

  1. Why not start by bringing them in for a visit from a young age to get them used to being away from you and so they feel safe and relaxed in the Cat Hotel. If your cat is a bit older start small by bringing them in for 1-2 days stay before leaving them in the hotel for a longer period.
  2. Keep them in from the night before in case they go out in the morning and don't come back in time for their little trip.
  3. Don't feed them at least 2-3 hours before traveling as they can have travel sickness and getting sick can make them even more stressed. Also when they get to the Cat Hotel we like to feed them as it will help them settle in quicker.
  4. Make a list of your cats quirks/habits so that we can understand their behaviour better and make their holiday as comfortable and relaxed as possible. For example, perhaps they don't like being picked up, they may only like certain types of toys or they may only like being brushed in particular areas.
  5. We appreciate that you're in a hurry to go on your own holidays but please allow at least 10-15 minutes to check in your furry feline so they can be admitted in a stress free environment.
  6. Please keep an eye out for our next update, listing travel tips for your feline friend!

What to bring with you when coming to the Cat Hotel

  • Bed/ Blanket/ Toy that they love and smells like home. Just don't put it into the carrier during traveling in case of accidents.
  • Food: If  you're happy that your pet is fine with different foods we provide a high quality premium Royal Canin food. On the other hand, if your cat is always on the same diet or is on a prescription diet, we do recommend that you bring it.

Please note we do our best to send photos of your purrfect babies during their stay but if you'd like any updates you are very welcome to call us on (01) (8259636).

Also before your cat's stay we encourage you to visit the Cat Hotel. However visits are by appointment only to avoid disturbing our guests. You can arrange this by calling us on (01) (8259636) or emailing us at dunshaughlin@villagevets.ie
