Statement from one our nurses working as a relief nurse:

Why I enjoy working as a relief nurse for village vets . It’s nice to know that I am supporting a company that I have been working for since I was 21 years old or for nearly 8 years.

Knowing that I am in a position to dig out the teams that are feeling the pressures of low staff , trying to keep the clinic in a positive mind set and carrying the team through until full time nurse is found is I find very rewarding .

Being confident enough to be thrown into any working environment has grown me as a nurse . And I am definitely more adaptable to working in any environment and I am very level headed in dealing with any cases thrown my way .

It’s nice to see old friends from working in the company so long or seeing new faces and giving them a helping hand . I want to be that friendly face that people be like the day will be a little bit better with the help!

It’s also interesting in seeing the running of each individual clinic and getting to see there tips and tricks in getting through a unique surgical procedure or dealing with a difficult inpatient .

With this role it has reignited my interest in emergency nursing and now I am pursuing a certification in emergency and critical care nursing which will also stand to this diverse role . I have been doing this role for almost a year now and I could see myself doing it for many more .
