Services

Our Ashbourne branch joined the Village Vets family in 2008 and we moved to our shiny new site in 2024, which is well equipped with modern facilities including an in-house laboratory, diagnostic equipment such as x-rays, dental x-rays and ultrasonography, four consult rooms and two surgical theatres.

We provide the following services for Ophthalmology:

  • Full ophthalmic examination, including Schirmer Tear Test, Tonometry, Fluorescein staining, and the use of diagnostic eye drops as indicated. These tests help assess tear production, intraocular pressure, corneal integrity, and other important ocular parameters.
  • Corneal surgery, including corneal grafting and keratectomy, for treating deep ulcers, injuries, or other corneal pathologies.
  • Conjunctival surgery, including procedures involving the third eyelid, such as cherry eye correction and third eyelid flap placement.
  • Corrective eyelid surgery, such as face lifts, entropion/ectropion correction, and eyelid reconstruction, often performed to address conformational abnormalities or post-tumour excisions.
  • Eyelid mass removals, with attention to aesthetic and functional reconstruction, ensuring both comfort and cosmetic outcome.
  • Enucleation, the surgical removal of the eye, performed, when necessary, due to trauma, glaucoma, or neoplasia, with a focus on pain relief and recovery.
  • Cryosurgery, used in the treatment of conditions like distichiasis, ectopic cilia, and other abnormal hair growths that cause corneal irritation or damage.
