Salary: €65,000 – €75,000 per annum full time pro-rated to 4 nights (DOE)

We are looking for an experienced ECC Vet to join our Greyabbey team. You will have a strong desire to work in emergency care service. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, hard-working, and a team player. In Village Vets we strive to provide the best standard of care to our patients and the best service to our clients. We are proud to support our staff with a comprehensive CPD program, and we welcome and encourage any interest in further education. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of our out-of-hours emergency care service.

This night ECC Vet role will allow you to have a great working life balance with a rota of Monday–Thursday nights, every 3 weeks. We are also open to applicants looking for full-time night rotations.

About the Role

As part of our team, you will:

  • Take the lead in assessing and triaging emergencies, making critical decisions to save lives.
  • Perform appropriate emergency procedures and surgeries in a fully equipped modern clinic.
  • Manage and stabilise critically ill patients, implementing tailored treatment protocols.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients, supporting them through difficult decisions.
  • Work collaboratively with a skilled veterinary and nursing team to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Maintain detailed records and ensure compliance with VCI standards.

About You

Our ideal candidate will:

  • You are MVB‑qualified (or equivalent) and currently registered with the VCI, with 3+ years’ post‑graduation experience in small animal care.
  • Skilled in triage management, diagnostic decision‑making under pressure, and emergency stabilisation
  • Surgical proficiency in ECC procedures
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients, even in stressful or emotional situations.
  • Professional, self‑motivated, and trustworthy, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a busy ECC team.
  • Desirable: Additional ECC‑specific qualifications and previous experience in a fast‑paced emergency hospital.
