Our Veterinary Dermatology service is led by Dr. Andreas Constantinides DVM and Soraia Alqueidão DVM MVSc GPCert (Derm) 

Andreas graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 2021 and is currently pursuing a Postgraduate Certificate in Veterinary Dermatology with Improve International. He has a special interest in chronic skin disease, infections, and allergy management, and is dedicated to delivering tailored treatment plans that improve patients’ comfort and quality of life. 

Soraia graduated from Lisbon in 2018 and went on to complete a master’s degree with a retrospective study on antibiotic resistance in dogs with bacterial folliculitis. She gained valuable experience through internships in Lisbon and São Paulo, focusing on internal medicine and dermatology. In 2023, she was awarded her GP Certificate in Small Animal Dermatology. Passionate about continuous learning, Soraia regularly attends international congresses to stay at the forefront of the field. She is based in our Lissenhall clinic and is committed to providing the highest standard of dermatological care

Our Ashbourne branch joined the Village Vets family in 2008 and we moved to our shiny new site in 2024, which is well equipped with modern facilities including an in-house laboratory, diagnostic equipment such as x-rays, dental x-rays and ultrasonography, four consult rooms and two surgical theatres.

We provide diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of diseases including:

  • Bacterial, Fungal, Parasitic and Viral Skin diseases
  • Alopecia, Keratinization Disorders and Pigmentary Abnormalities
  • Hypersensitivity Disorders
  • Autoimmune and Immune Mediated Skin Disorders
  • Dermatological Manifestations of Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases
  • Diseases of Ears, Eyelids, Feet, Claws and Anal Sacs
  • Nutritional, Genetic, Congenital, Hereditary, Environmental and Miscellaneous Skin Diseases

Diagnostic Techniques:

  • Skin/Ear cytology, Trichogram, Skin scrapes
  • Wood’s Lamp examination, Inhouse Fungal culture
  • Microbial Culture and sensitivity
  • Biopsy
  • PCR, Serology and Hormonal assays
  • Allergy Serology testing
  • Video Otoscopy (accepting referrals from August)
